My custom Chrome PiP extension, Gemini 3 updates

Daily update

Today I have been finishing up my FreeGuitarTuner.net localization efforts. I probably need to follow up soon with some SEO checks and ensuring the sitemaps are updating automatically in Bing/Google webmaster tools. My goal is to cast a wider net with regards to capturing organic traffic. We will see how things go. My north star with this project is to have a guitar tuner that is free, fast and accurate. Eventually there will be an iOS app.

Gemini 3 will be launching October 22nd according to this X post. No idea if this is credible, but it seems at least slightly plausible/believable. Gemini 2.5 Pro was released back on March 25, 2025, which is only a few months ago yet the model feels ancient relative to the insane progress we've seen this year in AI. The hype on X.com over the past two weeks has built to a feverish level -- fueled by claims that various users have used the model via random A/B testing on Google AI Studio (ai.dev). There are many examples of really amazing frontend work from the alleged Gemini 3 model being A/B tested, but perhaps we'll be able to test it ourselves in just a couple of weeks. I personally have several tough problems I'm waiting to tackle until 3 rolls out.

I've also been working on a custom YouTube picture-in-picture extension. There are many on the Chrome Web Store, but they all seem shady and potentially malware/phishing attempts. Luckily, in today's age you can just spin up your own if you possess the will and determination. I'll look into publishing or at least share the code in the coming days once I polish it.
